Last 70 Days of 2013 – Day 5: Activate your passion

“…..For zeal for Your house has eaten me up…” – King David
A person can succeed at almost anything for which they have unlimited enthusiasm.” – Charles M. Schwab
Day 5 of #LAST70DAYSOF2013 is here! I am excited about the feedbacks from everyone who found time to read the previous four editions of this journey. The finish line is still far but I am hopeful that the best is yet to come as we journey together through these last days of 2013. Just to remind you that the purpose of this series is to give you something to think about the year 2013 and then put the lessons from the year into use as we all prepare for greater 2014. Today, I’d like to share with you a few things about activating your passion in pursuit of a successful and excellent 2014.
Passion [pásh’n] simply has to do with those things you love doing; those things that energize (to supply with strength or power, makes you become active), excite (feeling of enjoyment or pleasurable satisfaction), motivate (reason or incentive to do something, feeling of enthusiasm), inspire (encouragement to greater effort)……you. It is an extreme, compelling emotion; intense emotional drive or excitement; and or a strong liking or desire or devotion to some activity, object or concept.
…..let me share these truths about passion with you:
Passion is the first step to achievement. Your desire determines your destiny. Anyone who lives beyond an ordinary life had a great desire. It is true in any field. Weak desire brings weak result. Passion increases your will-power. There is no substitute for passion. It is fuel for the will. If you want anything badly enough, you can find the will-power to achieve it. Passion changes you. If you follow your passion other than others perception, you can’t help but become more dedicated and productive person. And that increases your ability to impact others. In the end, your passion will have more influence than your personality. Passion makes the impossible possible. Human beings are created by God in such a way that when anything fires the soul, impossibility vanish. A fire in the heart lights everything in your life. A person with great passion and few skills will outperform a person with great skills but no passion.
So, I have some questions for you. Did you devote yourself to something this year and pursued it fervently or did you just live and attend to matters casually? Was there anything you were willing to give your time, energy and resources to in this year (even though they may not always turn out successful)? If none, then you would not be right to expect any product. I want you to think about this. Did every person passionate about something leave a mark or legacy behind? Yes, they did! Of all the people we do not know about, do you think they were passionate about anything? No, I do not think so! Research has shown that 75% of every population do not know what their TRUE PASSION is. Refuse to be counted in this number in 2014. You need to activate that thing which drives you and follow it through to the end.
The truth is that passion is power. You can never have significant success with anything until it becomes your passion. You will be remembered for those things that consumed your time, thoughts, energy that led to significant contribution to the benefit of humanity. In 2014, you must pursue your dream passionately or else, no one will do so for you.
To activate your passion for next year, you will need to ask and answer for yourself the following questions to help you find and understand what you are passionate about.
– What puts a smile on your face? Following what makes you truly happy is a wonderful way to figuring out what you were put on Earth for. Think about something that you do or that perhaps you used to do that brings you total happiness!
– What do you find easy? What we find easy for us to do, will be related to what we are passionate about. It’s very hard to hate something that is very easy for us!
– What sparks your creativity? Think about something in your life where you seem to always expand its horizon, always coming up with new, fun, and exciting ideas relating to that subject. Whatever makes you creative is something that you are passionate about.
– What would you do for free? Think about something that you would just love to do, even if you were not getting paid. Think about something that you look forward to do, something that you wish you could do all the time.
-What do you like to talk about? Most of the time, we aren’t aware of this. A good way to figure this out properly is to ask your friends. Ask them what they believe you like to talk about the most, what topic makes your eyes brighten up, and changes your entire behaviour.
-What makes you unafraid of failure? When you do what you are passionate about, you have total confidence in your abilities. This makes you not worry about failing, because in your mind, how can you fail when you do what you love?
– What would you regret not having tried? If you were at the end of your life, what would you regret not having pursued? What would you have liked to do, that you didn’t get a chance to?
These may not be exhaustive of all you need to do to activate your passion but if you try them, I am sure you will have a better 2014. So, 2014 here we come with a bang! Go and win!
Prayer: May your 2014 be filled with a God-given passion. May every coldness in your heart against your purpose receive a fire from God to launch you into a glorious year.
