Last 70 Days of 2013 – Day 55: Fill your heart with hope

“Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God” – King David of Israel
Day 55 of #LAST70DAYSOF2013 is here today to encourage you to fill your heart with hopeHope is that feeling that what is wanted or desired can be had or that events will turn out for the best. I just imagine what the world will look like if there was nothing like hope in this life. Hope keeps the heart going and the spirit expectant. Hope keeps your vision vibrant and alive. Hope is that inspiration that tells you to try one more time, when the world says give up. Sometimes, hope is all that you have when you have nothing else, and if you have it, you have everything.
Unfortunately, we have faced numerous disappointments and failures in our lives, including this year that is fast approaching that we have come to a point where we feel like casting away our hope. Today, I want to encourage not to cast your hope away but continue to fill your heart with hope. This is the only way you can assure yourself of a better 2014. If you lose hope, I tell you then, that you have lost everything and there is no need to keep expecting. We must learn to keep our hearts open to dreams. For as long there is a dream, then there is hope and as long as there is hope, there will be joy in living. This boils down to the choice to either remain optimistic in the face of opposition and difficult times or to become pessimistic as things we expect do not materialize. Sri Chinmoy once said in a poem that “hope knows no fear. Hope dares to blossom even inside the abysmal abyss. Hope secretly feeds and strengthens promise.” What a true expression of the capacity of hope?
You may have heard the saying that “while there is life, there is hope.” It is a true confirmation of the biblical wisdom written by King Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastics which says “For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.” I think that your battle is to do your best to be alive against all odds, while you are waiting for your breakthrough to come. The word of God talks so much about hope that can never be exhausted in this single piece. Several times, He spoke to the people of Israel to keep up their hope while they wait for His salvation. In other times, He encourages the righteous man to make God his hope and his expectation, will then not be cut off. You will also observe that many who lost hope in God never made it to the top. They never lived to fulfil their call, purpose and destiny in life. We also see that a man like Abraham hoped against hope (lived a life of hope even when it was clear that it makes no logical or reasonable sense to be hopeful), yet he received his promise from God.
If you lose your hope, then there is no reason to continue to live, because I really wonder how you will live in this life, at this time and age with all these challenges and heart-fainting troubles without hope in your heart. Prophet Jeremiah once said in his lamentation that “it is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.” Filling your heart with hope simply means believing that there is going to be light at the end of the dark tunnel. The basis for our faith is hope. When the heavens and the earth shake, you need not to be afraid, when the business is not coming forth, when the financial breakthrough is not coming forth, when the relationship seems to be breaking down, when your academic performance is not coming together, when a family member is sick and it’s like such may not live, when a child is out of hand, when a home is breaking down, know that the Lord will be the hope of his people, for faith in God that He will come through for you is the evidence of things hope for. So, that means, until your heart is filled hope for something you do not see yet, there will not be faith in you.
How do you then fill your heart with hope?
– Believe God and put your trust in Him and Him alone. He is the giver of hope.
– Keep your eyes on God’s word and meditate upon it daily.
– Keep a company of friends who live in hope.
– Encourage yourself in the Lord even at the worst times of your life.
– Be positive at all times no matter what happens.
I still believe that great things will yet come your way as well as mine in the future ahead of us. That is why I will never lose my hope or expectation. So, do not lose hope. You never know what tomorrow may bring. Still hope for that dream and vision in 2014.
Prayer: May God fill your heart with the hope of His salvation in 2014. May He fill you with optimistic mindset all your life through His word in Jesus name, Amen!
