Today is day 66 of the #LAST70DAYSOF2013 and I truly want to share with you what getting to the finish line in 2014 means to me and you will be surprised how this will bless you because the inspiration blessed me personally and that’s why I am sharing with you. In 2014, do not join others in the rat race, it is not meant for you if you want to succeed. You must understand who you are and follow God in that light and then allow Him to lead you side-by-side according to His own strength in you until you reach the goals you desire in 2014. Do not let any man either to cajole into the race as well, for they will look at you as if you are an odd person in their midst when you refuse to join in the race. If life were to be ‘a race’ like most people are made to believe, then coming first would have been the most important to every man on earth. This is the misconception that almost every one holds and the reason behind all the rat race we see here and there every day. But, I do not think that we are living a life that is a race. Rather, we a living a life that is ‘like a race’. This is the truth that many do not hold and the reason why everyone is not willing or rather afraid to be behind in getting to the finish line.
Even in the common race run on tracks that it is a rule that the person who gets to the finish line first wins. Everyone does not get to win the major trophy or the gold medal as everyone gets to the finish line at different times based on their individual strength, skill and speed. So, I wonder why some people think it is a ‘do-or-die’ affair to win others in this life. One of the first mistakes people make at the beginning of every is this mindset they adopt that they need to start rushing things so they can meet up with their mates or even become richer than them by the time the year is ended just like we are experiencing at the of every year. Unfortunately, many of them are disappointed because it does not work that way. And many of them end up entangling the things of this life that destroy men at the long run. The only person you have to get to the finish line before is yourself.
And I think that what matters most in life is your ability to get to the finish line in life (that is, a point where you are self-sufficient enough to take care of yourself and be a blessing to your generation at your own level). So, this should be your focus – ‘I want to have enough for myself and the people I love and to share with my generation’. There is no way all of us will be as rich as Bill Gates, or as intelligent as Albert Einstein or as revered as Nelson Mandela. These people are all up there to show us what power lies within us and serve as an inspiration for us to pursue only that which is our destiny and not that of another man. In fact, draw your own finish line for yourself, so long as you will not set the standard so low, lower than your true ability and strength. Be judge of your own race, score yourself and reward yourself. By so you will find how beautiful life will be.
So, just do your best to get to the finish line, and not very much about getting there first for we all will not. So what does getting to the finish line means to me? I will share with you. Getting to the finish line means you will not give up because you didn’t get there first. Getting to the finish line means you will not give up because you encountered issues that delayed you on the way. Getting to the finish line means when you fall along the path, that you will not remain down but you will stand up and continue in the race. Getting to the finish line means to keep running when there is no one cheering you up (because you have learnt to be your own number cheerleader). Getting to the finish line means maximizing all your skills and potentials to ensure you are having what you desire daily. Getting to the finish line means knowing that the ULTIMATE Judge is YOU and whatever you score yourself is what you get. Getting to the finish line means knowing that God is interested in your getting to the finish line and not necessarily that you get there before every other person. These are just a few of the things that to my mind when I think of getting to the finish line and see how everyone is rushing to make it happen.
My dear friends, in 2014, do not join the rat race. Take life according to your pace; only make sure you are not living below your God-given grace and capacity. You will also get to the finish line like everyone but you do not need to kill yourself before you get there. Just be yourself. I will see you at the finish line in 2014!
Prayer: May the ‘rat race’ of this world not catch up with you in 2014 but May you reach your expected end in time and with all your desired trophies waiting for you at the end of 2014 in Jesus name, Amen.
