[Monday Success Reflections with Apeh] 12: The Endurance Factor

Hello friend,

In today’s #MondaySuccessReflections, I want to ask you a question that is not so simple or popular these days among Christians. Have you in recent times considered the important of endurance and its role in your achieving success? Because, endurance is not such a pleasant word or condition to be in as other sweet-smelling words, we find it difficult to associate with it. But, today, it has been impressed deeply in my heart that endurance is an integral part of our work with God, towards attaining to god-likeness and success as well.
Have you noticed that ‘endurance is the ability to remain in existence through an unpleasant or difficult process or situation without giving way, the capacity of a thing to last or withstand wear or tear? Come to think of it, why do you think some people in life succeed where others fail? Why do you think that others are able to hold on at the points where several gave in? Why do you think people are able to keep going when all have fallen by the wayside? Is it just because they are passionate or visionary? Well, I am sure that vision and passion lacking endurance will surely fade away just in a matter of time.
Do you know that Jesus, the Christ we follow didn’t have a glorified name until He had endured the cross? And we are called to learn from Him for our own life too. That is why a good number of scriptures talked about endurance as a good Christian virtue and I dare to say, a tool very crucial for success. Paul encouraged Timothy to put up with his share of hardship as a loyal soldier in Christ’s army.
Endurance is valuable as a factor for success because it instils in you the discipline you need for success. It is the ingredient that builds resilience in the face of opposition. Through endurance, your capacity can be increased, your spiritual stamina becomes stabilised and your character thoroughly refined. When you endure hardship or pain for a good, worthy and godly cause, and you come out strong and victorious, your faith is built up the more. Endurance sustains the hand of God over your life and destiny. Isn’t that true with some of your experiences at those times you endured? These are values that money cannot ever buy.
And this is my encouragement to you today that you make endurance your companion, especially in this world where things may not go your way and as smoothly as you may expect it to go, especially in issues that touch on your faith and walk with God. I do not think that certain success stories are ever going to be possible in the absence of endurance.
I will leave you now, to go out this week, conquering every situation that comes your way, placing a demand to endure on you.
