As yesterday was mothers’ day, I am poised to dedicated today’s post to mothers and their love for their children and how this is a factor that determines success for every person. I still have clear memories of the price my mother paid to get me to where I am today. Many of us can agree that it was the love of a mother that kept them through all in life and helped them to arrive at destiny.
For me, there was a time when it was only my mother that believed in me. At that moment, that was all I needed to face life headlong. My mother would do anything to support my father to see that our needs are met.
Looking at the word of God, there are many people we look up to today that would never have been successful if their mother never did what they did. Simply, I am yet to see anything or a force more compelling than the love of a mother.
Think of these very outstanding scenarios of the love of a mother and ponder……
Isaac, the son of promise was delivered from the scorning of the bond woman and her son because his mother Sarah loved him and was willing to stand for him against any such acts. She drove the bond woman and her son away so the promise to her son will remain and not be corrupted.
Jacob was later to become the heir to the promise because his mother pulled a string she never cared what would be the consequence only to see he never missed out in the promise.
Moses’ mother risked her life to keep the baby even in the face of the decree by the ruling Pharaoh then to terminate every male child. She preferred to be caught disobeying than to have her baby boy killed.
Samson was a mighty man in his days just because his mother obeyed the command of the Lord to make him a Nazarite and never to have any strong drink. Assuming she’s a woman who loves to drink. It would have taken a greater love to abstain just to birth greatness.
Samuel was nurtured from childhood to know God by his mother Hannah who birthed her out of agony. When it was time to hand him over to God she was never reluctant and Samuel went on to become one of the greatest prophets of the Old Testament. His words never fell to the ground.
Timothy was one of the youngest voices in his time and it was recorded that the faith in him was first found in his mother and grand-mother.
Jesus the Messiah started his public ministry only after a compulsion from His mother who despite what the situation believed her son has the power to do miracles. His obedience to His mother’s demand announced His ministry.
And so on……because the list is unending. Take a moment and think about your mother. I am sure you will have a reason to bow your head and say a prayer for mama today. That is all I want to achieve with this post today. Your success in life can never be disconnected from your mother. You owe her a few words of prayers to God to bless her this week!
And if you love your mother, drop a word for her here! See you next Monday.
